Our Year

Jesuits are widely known for their colleges, universities and high schools, but names like Fordham, Boston College and Regis do not tell the full story of Jesuit ministries. The works of the USA Northeast Province are far broader in scope, extending from middle schools in the inner city to a refugee center in Amman, Jordan, from a retreat center with an ocean view, to parishes near college campuses. Please allow us to express our most heartfelt gratitude for your support, which inspires and animates our work. Together, we are, quite literally, transforming lives.

During an exciting time of change throughout the Northeast, your support has helped our Jesuit works thrive. Thanks to your generosity, our men in formation are having transformative experiences that are preparing them for a life of service. Jesuits and lay colleagues at schools and universities are shaping the minds and hearts of so many students. Our senior health care communities are more vibrant than ever, and our international works are, changing lives.

Support Our Work

The Jesuits of the USA Northeast Province simply could not do what we do without the support of our friends and benefactors. You are an integral part of the Jesuit mission, and you help ensure that the Jesuits can have a life-changing impact on the people we serve.

Formation of Jesuits
The focus of Jesuit formation is to prepare priests and brothers who are well-educated, trained in the Spiritual Exercises and have the skills to minister in a diverse and ever changing environment. Today it requires almost $50,000 a year to support each Jesuit in formation – a process that can take upwards of ten years.
Care of Senior and Infirm Jesuits
When Jesuits reach the end of active ministry and require medical assistance, they most often reside in specialized Jesuit communities that provide both a home, and skilled nursing care. This care is administered by medical professionals and made possible by the generosity of many friends, former students, parishioners, retreatants and benefactors.
Pastoral, Social and Educational Ministries
Jesuits minister in colleges and universities, high schools and middle schools, retreat centers and parishes and apostolic works. From hospital and prison chaplaincy to programs for those affected by homelessness and gang violence, Jesuits continue to follow the legacy of St. Ignatius Loyola by going where needs are greatest.
International Ministries
Jesuits serve in nearly every country, fulfilling a universal vocation to go anywhere in the world where there is hope for God’s greater glory. Priests and brothers from the USA Northeast Province are bringing hope to many parts of the world, with ministries in Jamaica, Jordan and Micronesia.
